time is moving TOO fast

Dear family,
Well and this week, passed by way quicker than I expected and I am again sitting down writing you all, but to think just one last time after this and then its more let's talk in person! This is blowing my mind!! I can not believe how fast time is going by and it flies when your occupied with things to do as well!!
This week was a really great one though, we have found some people that are looking for the gospel, they asked us some really deep questions, and when we responded it's like a light bulb went off in them cause they lit up and understood completely and everything started to click for them in their heads and hearts!! It was really amazing!!
We are going strong and getting things ready for the next change, they should have a good one here and it would not surprise me one bit if they baptize 5 people from our area!! Which is truly a miracle!! We are going as strong as we can and we will continue to go ham this week and finish it out good.
It's getting hard at times as everyone tells me bye and ask how many more times I can come back and see them before I go...so that is always a rough one...this mission has kind of made this old heart of mine soft, cause it's hard to fight back tears at some moments, this Sunday I am planning on sharing my testimony in spanish one last time....that is a crazy one to say so we will see how that goes, I always get so nervous in public speaking and then don`t do so good, so I hope I can do a good and finish out strong!!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some, I love you all and I will see you all soon, have fun at scout camp and enjoy the new ride!!!! TWO new cars now when I get home!!!!! MAN!! The life of rich folk right?!?! (; Have a great week!!!

Here we go….

Dear family,

Well as you all know Elder Smith got sick a couple weeks ago, and he was given some medicine to take for it and poor guy just doesn`t have the best of luck or something, cause he had an allergic reaction to the medicine and his whole body turned red, got white spots, and swelled up so he was not sitting good this week at all, so we have been running between doctors to get it all figured out and tons of test he had to take so this week was a little rough, cause the work of the Lord we didn`t get to do a whole lot, which was kind of frustrating but there is nothing we could really do about it!!
So I took  advantage of my extra free time and I studied the scriptures a lot and boy was that truly great, to get and study them for my personal progression  because a lot of times as missionaries, we get focused on what we need to study for that day for the people we will be visiting and what not we don`t get the most time to study for yourself! So that was truly a blessing and I have been able to finish the New Testament and DoctrinayConvenios this past week, so which was so great and to truly be able to see and understand everything and how all these scriptures are linked together and fully comprend it all!!   I love the scriptures so much and the peace that they bring into my life it is truly amazing!!! I am so thankful for them and for guidance and revelation we can recieve from them, I encourage you all to read and re-read them, so you too, can find out for yourselves what I am talking about!!!
Well mother I love you to the moon and back and then some,
I love you all, and HAPPY FATHERS DAY dad, sorry its late!!!!!
Have a great week every one!!!!!
Con mucho Amor,
Elder Leatherow

It's all becoming so Surreal

Dear family,

This week wow!!
Elder Smith did not have a very good week, he has been pretty sick and after a week of being sick he decided to head into the doctor and get it all figured out and he is doing a lot better now, which is so good, but trips to the capital are always fun and such an adventure within themselves!! He had some infections but with the medication they said he would be good in about 5 days and completely back to normal, which is good!!
This week, was good I truly love the people here of El Salvi, and getting to serve them and work with them, and truly help them!! It has brought me such great joy and the friendships that I have been able to make that will last me a lifetime!!! We have some great people that said they love the church just they want to take it slow and not just rush to the baptismal font, which I understand so we are helping them,I know they will be baptized whether I am here for it though is really unlikely, but least I have gotten to help them and get them started on this great path!!
Well family, I truly do love you guys and I am truly so grateful for your love and support over this amazing journey  all I have here is a couple more weeks of this beautiful country, and I am going to take it all in and live life it to the fullest!!!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
I hope you all have a great week!!!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow
P.S. Also,  Mother or Father could you put a bug in the bishop's ear that I would love to know my topic that he wants me to speak on my last Monday, so I could have that whole week to think and ponder about it and truly prepare something good and spiritual to share, thank you guys!!!
Enjoy the fotos from the week:

Livin' the Mission Life

Dear family,

HOLY OVERLOAD!!! Wow that was the best feeling, I don`t ever remember opening my email and seeing that many emails!!That was so freaking great and I thank you all so much for your pictures, I love seeing pictures so much!! It is blowing my mind how my little brothers are not really little any more, they both probably tower over me now!! So we will just have to see when I get home and we have a family wrestling match?!?!(;
This week was a week seriously of miracles, I can say, we had so many good things happen and the Lord does bless us for our efforts!!
So in this area, it as always been a struggle to get people to church and we killed it this week and had great success not only with investigadores but along with members and less actives!!!
We had an experiece that was awesome, that I would like to share with you guys, so we were sitting in the second class when a member came and pulled us out and a man had entered into the church and he told us that he had been attending a church but did not agree with the teachings and what not and that he had see our website and looked us up and wanted to learn more about our church and that he had 3 other friends as well that are interested in the church!! So that was so awesome, a miracle within its self, the Lord is ALWAYS prepaing the hearts of men, to come unto him!! I freaking love it, and we are going strong!!! Which is so good and exactly what I need and have been praying for!!! So we will continue to work hard and push ourselves and see what else the Lord has in store for us this week!!!
I love you all so much and I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!!
Have a great week!!!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow
P.S. Colt there is a great questionar in the June Liahona about missions, you should read it when you get the chance!!!

Transfer ~ one last time

Dear Wonderful family of mine,
Well as a Leatherows we have this habit of liking to stay in our shells and not liking the idea complete of change, that is probably a good reason why we never have ever moved and what not and I am starting to think that is probably why the Lord continues to throw that at me but it's still a struggle for me, you would think it would be easier after having 16 changes in the mission, but I am doing better and hanging in there!!
Elder Smartt left Wednesday morning and I went and picked up my new companion, which is a great guy it's just is always a change and something that takes a bit to get used to!! I sure do miss Elder Smartt I will not tell a lie, he was such a great companion and he fit so well with me!! Elder Smith, my new companion, is really great though too!! He is from the same place as Elder Smartt Gilbert, Arizona!  He is a funny guy and he has a lot of time in the mission as well, he has almost like 17 months, so he knows what the mission is like and works hard, which is good and what I needed!
The area is doing good, we are still having trouble getting people to come to church with the church being a little ways out of the way, makes it really hard so we will continue to work and pray that the people will also see that they need to go to church, and not just the close one but the true one!!  The crazy part also is that Elder Caldwell, who was my companion back in the MTC, is now here in my distrct with me! That is pretty cool, that we will die together now!!
Well family I love you all so much and hope you have such a great week!!
Mother I love you to the moon and back and then some more.
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow

Photos from this past week

Elder Leatherow and Elder Smith
With this being my last 6 weeks, I am going to try to snap a random photo  EVERY day ~ here is one of those
A while back Melissa Vasquez sent me (the mom) a friend request on Facebook.  I didn't know anyone by that name but took a chance well I am sure glad I did!  This sweet gal is the daughter of Wes' mission president and she tags me in lots of photo.  How cool is that.  Enjoy the photos of the last trip to the temple.

Melissa said in the above photo Wes is laughing at her because she just ran into the glass door.  I love this photo more than words.
Melissa is now getting ready to embark on an adventure of her own, she has been called to serve a mission in the Salt Lake City Temple Square mission.  Now I get to visit temple square and return the favor for another sweet missionary momma.

Last Transfer

Dear family,

Well this week starts my last and final transfer in the mission! That is so crazy to me to think!! I have no idea what is going to happen to be honest with you all, we have not received any imformacion about them yet, we will probably know tomorrow afternoon! I truly feel I will stay here and finish out my mission, now whether its with Elder Smartt or not I have no idea, some crazy things have happened here in the mission, so anything could happened! We are praying that we stay together, that would truly be freaking sweet, and he wants to finish his mission here in this area as well, so if he does stay he will have to stay for a change after, cause I will be leaving and they need someone to teach the other elder the area.
This week was a really great one!! We found five new families to teach, which is so great and really will help us to start out the next change on the right foot, whether Smartt stays or I have a new companion! This week not a whole lot happened, the branch has grown at least we finally hit three weeks with over 50 people in the sacrament meeting again, which is really good! So we are very pleased about that one, I have a goal of seeing it at 75 before I leave here!! So we are going to work really hard and see what we can do there! Well folks I know its short, wait until next week to find out all the details of all that goes down this Wednesday with transfers and what not!! Mother I love you to the moon and back and then some, I love you all and hope you guys have a great week!!

Like a Sponge

Dear Family,

This was a good week, I can`t believe we are already entering our final full week of this change!! That is so crazy to me how the time is flying!!!
This week was not too bad of a week,  Elder Smartt got sick so we had two days of being in the house and hardly getting to leave, but he is all better now and is running around again!! Which is very good and I am so thankful for that!
We had some members introduce us to their family who aren't members last week and they came to church and they are way positive and said they will be coming again next week!! So we are going to go visit them and hopefully it isn`t just they want to come to church but they will be willing to listen to us and our message!! If so, I really think they can be our baptisms for June!! So we are praying really hard there!
I had a leadership meeting this past week as well, which was great! I learned so much and  just being around that caliber of Elders and leaders of the mission it is great! The spirit is so strong and one learns so fast!! I tried to be just like a sponge and soak it all up!!
So if I remember correct Colt is graduating tomorrow or is it Wednesday, I am pretty sure it's tomorrow, that`s what you guys said on Skype right?? Well either way, congrats little bro that is freaking awesome!! And such a huge accomplishment and to also graduate from seminary that is to freaking awesome!! Keep it up bro!!! You are going to do some amazing things in this life!!!
Also, who is ready to hunt?!!? We got tags from what dad says!! I freaking cant wait to get out there with you guys and make some more great memories!!
Well Mother I love you to the moon and back and then some!!
I love you all so much and hope you guys have a great week!!!
P.S. I just finished the Book of Mormon in Spanish again this week, INCREDIBLE!!!!
How is all of your reading coming along?!?!

Temple Blessings

Dear wonderful family,

Well I feel the time went too fast yesterday and I didn`t get to share one of the most important things with you guys so I will use my time today in order to do that!
I want you all to know that even though my time is running down, I am still working and trying so hard to make sure my conversion is strong so when I do get back, I don`t fall into old bad habits!
Last Thursday I had the privilege of attending the temple here, the last time I went to the temple was last September, like to do a session, and if my calculations are correct it was just over 7 months ago, and that is too much time that I let past without going!! I know I don`t really have control over when I can go while I am in the mission, but I do after the mission! I would like to make it there on a monthly basis and I would love to go and do a session in every single temple in Utah!!! Temples are truly one of the greatest if not the thee greatest blessings we can have here on this earth!! The work that is done there is incredible and you can not find it any where else!! Families are sealed and to never taken from each other just because one passes away, we still can be together!! The opportunity we can help others have the same as we do their work for them!! The spirit that is there, is something one can not explain he just has to experience it!!! I loved every single second I was in there, and it is hard to leave but when I did, I felt like I had been recharged and ready to take on the World!! So I encourage every single one of you that are able to take advantage of it and do a session, I promise you that you will receive blessings you can`t even imagine and those of you who can`t just yet, continue to search and see if it is somewhere or something you would like! You can go there and be on the grounds and just that alone, you can feel a difference!! So please go! I know that they are God`s kingdoms here on earth, that God and his Son Jesus Christ live and that the temple is a great place you can go and receive revelation!
Lo comparto con mucho amor con cada uno de uds en el nombre Jesucristo. Amen.
Thank you all for writing and talking yesterday, I love you all so much and that mother I love you to the moon and back and then some!!
I hope you all have a great week!!

6 days til SKYPE

Dear Family,
Well this week, is probably going to be real short cause we are going to SKYPE this SUNDAY!!! WOW, feels like we just skyped the other day!! The time sure is flying by!! Which is good, cause boy do I miss you guys and hanging out and doing our Leatherow Thang!(; So now for the goods!! So for Skype we will be having Stake Conference this coming Sunday so we have to do some traveling in order to attend, so I will be available at 1:30ish or so! So if you want to have Skype ready at around that time, and by 1:30 I mean Salvadorean time(;
This week is good, we had the old man that is 80 years old tell me that he will get baptized when we tell him that he can get baptized!! Which is really awesome!! He just has to get into being a little more obedient to some of the commandments in order to do so! So that was awesome, we also found a lawyer guy this week, who was super positive and asked us to return after he reads the book, cause he said he will have some questions!! We  are witnessing miracles here ~  it is freaking great!!!
So G-ray is lifting huh?!?! That is good cause do I have a surprise for him!!(;
Well family, i sure do love you guys so much!!
Mother I love you to the moon and back and then some!!!
Have a great week, and just 6 days and we will be talking face to face!!!!!!(: (:

What a GREAT week!

Dear Family,

So this week was a great one here for us in El Salvi!!! We had the privilege of hearing from Elder Alonzo from the quorum of the 70!! It was so freaking cool! Cause he did like a question and answer kind of a thing!! He would answer the questions right there on the spot! He was filled with the spirit, and you could feel it! He is a great man!! I got to shake his hand and talk a little to him, it was incredible!! That is one of the many blessings of the mission getting to be in the same room with those type of men!! I love the mission and all the opportunities that I have received from being here!
This week was good!!   We found 12 new people to teach this week!! That was pretty freaking sweet I will not tell a lie there!! Then the other Elders here in the branch with us had a baptism, which was freaking sweet and will hopefully help this branch cause they need some help!! But it was really cool cause he asked me to do his confirmation for him!! Which was my first time ever confirming anyone here in the mission, usually we get bishops or members but he asked me!! Talk about nervous!!! I was pretty nervous, but once the spirit came I was able to relax a little bit which was nice!!
So Skype! I freaking can`t wait to talk to you all!! Please bring questions, Colt about anything you might be wondering about for the mission and please someone tell me about the tags we drew this year!! The wait is killing me!!! I can`t wait to get out this year and kill some animals with you guys!!!
Well family that is about all i got for ya this week!!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
I love you all and I hope you guys have a great week, and congrats Colt on your award!!!

Spirit Animals, blown out Shoes and AUSTRALIA!

Dear family,

So we had changes this past week and the crazy part happened, We didn't get changes!! Elder Smartt and I are still together ~ going strong!! So that is super sweet!!! I am so stoked about that!!
SO the start of last change I don`t know how it got brought up in conversation but spirit animals came up and we both are wolves!! He is the Arctic and I am Dark Wolf thanks to GRANDPA(; So we thought it would be cool to get some shirts made!! It was super cheap it was only 4 bucks a shirt!!! The guy does it with spray paint!! So it was super cool!!!

Then also, after about 6 years of having my shoes, that have through it all with me, finally gave way!! I destroyed my soccer shoes, so I had to finish out the game with socks!! Will be sending pics of those!!

COLT I have to take the moment to tell you how proud I am of you and the decision you have made to serve the Lord and did he come through big for you little bro! AUSTRALIA!!!!!!! WHAT!?!??! Service

Dear Family,

Well this week was a week full of service!!! We would go running in the mornings and run to an investigator's house and chop wood for them or help then do some yard work and then on Saturday we helped build a road, like cement and everything!! Now that is some tough work right there!! I was pretty sore after that one I will not lie!!
We have been having trouble finding invesigators to teach or at least people that are truly interested in hearing about the gospel and willing to search and find out for themselves!! Cause there is a ton of people to sit and listen to ya but to find people who will actually do something after listening is the tricky part!! So we decided to do service to see if that would help us find more people and open their hearts more to the message that we bring!! We found some success, so we will see what happens there!!
Our little old man, that is 80 years old came again to church!! He is freaking great!! It is going to be hard to baptize because he has to get married to his wife who is 30 years younger than him and he is not very big on the marriage part what so ever!! So that is our struggle there, but we will continue to work and help him understand the importance of marriage and eternal families.
We also have a family of 8 that is great, they live like an hour away from the church so getting them to come is the hard part!! They are awesome though, the texas long horn picture I sent home was that families animal!! They are so funny, and I love visiting them!!
The mission is great!!
How is everyone doing with school winding down and summer is coming??
How are all the grandparents?? Please tell them all I said hello and that I love them please!! Well that is about it for the week!!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
I love you all and hope you have a great week and never EVER let your praying knees get lazy!!!!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow
P.S. you should read the Ensign or the Liahona of Abril it is a great one!!!!

SHOCKER of all SHOCKERS

Dear Family,

Well this week was an absolutely crazy week for us here!! With the news that I will be coming home now in July and not in May was a hard one to take for me, I will not tell a lie, cause I was looking forward to seeing you all, so it was rough those couple of days but no use in crying over spilled milk right?
We had our temple visit which was seriously awesome!!!!! I got to see people that I haven`t seen since the start of my mission like members or old investigators in older areas!!! WOW!!! The most crazy part is they all remembered me!! I was seriously like a little kid in a candy store!!!! Getting to see them all talk with them see how they are doing, how their conversion is, and it was seriously just perfect! Especially after the news that I would be staying until July!!
Then General Conference as well this week, was a rough one to get lessons in, we were running every where and we had to go almost an hour in bus to watch conference, but SO WORTH IT!!!!!!! Conference was incredible my friends!! I learned so much, Literally every question I had was answered between those two days!!! I want to take a moment and THANK my father, for an amazing example he has been and still is for me!! He popped into my head several times and I would just think, my dad already does that! Dad you are amazing and the best dad any boy could ever of asked for in this life!! THANK YOU!!!!! Also, hit pretty hard about temple marriages so well  ~ I get home in July.... So I can`t wait to get home!!! But I still have some time so we will continue to work this is our last full week of the change so we will do all that we can, we are hoping to stay together, that would be awesome!! We will just have to wait and see though what the Lord has, I have learned to never be to sure on things, because just when you got everything figured out the Lord throws a fast one at ya!!
There was a talk by an Elder of the 70, his first name was Brent H. something, and he shared the conversion of his sister, and I honestly can say it had tears rolling down my face the whole time, because I could not stop thinking about LOGAN; TESS; AMANDI, AMBER. I KNOW now that they too will come back, we just need to LOVE, WAIT, and WATCH!! I loved that so much!! It was incredible folks, if you didn`t catch it go read it!!!
Well sorry for talking your ears off just was a long crazy week, I will let ya all go for now.
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
I love you all and hope you all have a great week!!

At the Car Wash

Dear Mi Familia Bonita,

So this week was a good one, we had a little bit of running around to do to get ready for our car wash we did in order to help get the funds needs to pay for a bus to take our investigadores to the temple this coming thursday! The funny thing about this is we ended up doing it for free!! So I will go back a little and explain, so we started out washing cars for 1.50 and motorcycles for a 1.00 but then after literally 3 hours of dancing in the blazing hot sun doing crazy things in order to get peoples attention we changed the price! It was so funny to see us all with signs and doing whatever dance moves we could remember and boy did we get tons of laughs, smiles, and horn honking, etc. We changed and said we would wash for free and just take donationes if the people wanted to help us out and we got about 12 or 13 cars after that and we didn`t hit our mark but it's better than nothing.
Also, as missionaries we wear pants and collared shirts every day all day long, so when we did the car wash some parts of the body that had not seen sun for almost two years now seen it and seen it for like 7 hours, makes for a very sore man!! Did I get sunburned!! I fried!!! It is worth it though and I guess it's a good start on my tan for when I get back!!!
This week we also had an older gentlemen who is seriously like 80 years old come to church again, and he said he loves it!! That he will continue to come and this old man tried my patience to the max and to see the change in him and what not has been a true miracle for me! I am so blessed to be here and getting to know him!!
One quick thing for Colt is that man, as you are about to recieve your papers and when you get your call, a lot of things will happen and a lot of emotiones will start, and just stay strong because Satan will start to throw things in your way that could stop you from being a part of the greatest work this world has ever known!! So don`t EVER let your praying knees get lazy!!! FIght it off and get out here and join me in this great cause!! I love you little brother and I am so proud of you!!!! I love you bro!!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
I love you all so much and hope every single one of you have a great week!!!!
Con mucho amor
Elder Leatherow

Guess this gentlemen doesn't need a car wash?

 OUCH!

Wes:  I also have been heavily thinking electricain..I got permision from my president for on Mondays I can use some of my computer time to look at schooling stuff and I looked up electricain at the ATC, so that is another one that has really caught my eye.
Dad:  Yeah that could be a great field.
Wes:  yeah and it has an option later to go your own business route, that I really liked so we will just have to see, I don`t get a lot of time just like 10 or 15 minutes a week, but dad I have a question for ya and I need a serious answer, and your honest opinion. So here in this area, we play soccer a lot!! and the members always ask me if I had played  before and we get to talking and what not and just playing makes my love for the game come back all over again so much!!!! SO the question is do you feel I could go play college ball?? Do you think I would have the chance and skills to do it??? Please be honest dad I trust your opinion and know you will tell me the truth. I just want to know if not its just a fun hobby I will do but ya so just wanted to hear your thoughts…
Dad:  Well bud, I do know you have the dedication. You would need to come back, get in soccer shape and try out. I know you have a great mind for the game. We would just have to test speed and ball speed. Bryan Garay would probably be a great help to answer that.
Wes:  okay gotcha, i just love the game, if not I would love to be a trainer or help coach a team!!!
Dad:  I'm sure you would be able to do anything along that. We'll try and get with him and see if he can set up some play time for ya, or maybe talk with Weber. I really think you could do division 2
Wes:  okay I guess we will just have to see then, I have been working out here every day to help get me started to be in shape, thanks so much dad for your help!! I really do appreciate it, I have to go for the week though I love ya dad, have a great week!!
Wes:  mother!!!!!!!! I got my card!!!!! WE need not worry any more!!!!!(:
Mom: That makes my heart skip a beat and makes me sing songs of joy!  I am so glad you were able to make it work.  Will you please do me a favor and give Sister Vasquez a hug from your momma?  Are you allowed to hug?  Well she needs to know how much I appreciate her and that her sweet spirit seriously calmed my nerves.  I also so to chat with Elder Caldwell ~ he said he was your first and favorite companion?
Wes:  We can`t hug but I will tell her thanks and yes elder Caldwell was my companion in the MTC, he is great!! He is a very funny guy!
Wes: thanks mother for everything you have done for me!!! I will talk on the 31 of May that is totally fine with me, I think that would be best as well!!! I have to go though for the week, I love you to the moon and back and then some, have a great week!!!!(:

Favors

Dear Family,

We are doing good here in El Salvi this week, we are working and having some problems with members staying active so that's a struggle so we will continue to work and help this branch, but I guess it's helping me to see how to help run church for when I get home and what not. I enjoy it even though it stresses me out to the max!!! We have several great families here that we are working with and next week we are going to have a trip to the temple and we hope that will help them feel the spririt and have a greater drive to do the things we invite them to do!! The hardest thing is going to church because they are all a little ways out there in the country so it's a sarifice but we know it will bless them!! So it's great!!
So I have some favors I would love to ask ffrom you guys, and I know you are busy that is why I am asking early so you have more time and I don`t want to bother you guys at all!! I just need some help with a few things ~
The first thing is my partiarchal blessing, if you could maybe help get the appointment with the bishop and tell him I get home the 28 of May and then following week I would love to get my blessing, sometimes he is a very busy man, so the sooner we get it set the better!! Cause there is something in there I need to hear, I don`t know what but I have the strongest feeling I need to get it!
The second thing well you guys have already done it, so I thank you so much it was for school, maybe just check, when the schools start, Weber and the ATC classes, and I am wondering if it is okay if I can stay at the house for fall semester and what not until I get my feet under me and get my life more figured out and get some money.
Third thing is if you can keep your eyes open for some job offering that would be great!!! I can speak spanish! maybe a bank of something I just won`t work Sundays that is the only day I need off!! The other days I will take anything, really I will take anything when I get back, cause boy do I need some cash!!
The Fourth thing is I was thinking you guys could maybe wire money into my companions account and then I can pull the money out from his account, but I don`t know  ~ think about it and let me know!
Sorry I know its a lot that I am asking for!! I just have learned out here how to set goals and then how to make the plans to accomplish those goals, so I am kind of more on top of those kinds of things!
With the airport flight stuff, I was thinking it would be better if the same people who took me to the airport were there to meet me, then we can go to the stake center I can get released and then everyone can meet at the house and we can talk and greet everyone there!! Just so we aren`t in the airport for hours and what not. That is just my thoughts, I will do whatever is easiest though so let me know what you all think.
As for speaking I can do the 14th of June that is fine I just will be going to the singles ward I decided when I return.
Well thanks every one for the help and support I am recieving!!
I love you all so much!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some!!
Have a great week!!!!!
Con mucho amor,

Elder Smartt's got this

Dad:  Hey bud, have you given much thought to plumbing, electrician, AR heating and air? Them are fields that are losing workers but are always in demand. And as you get experience, pay goes up quite a bit. Just a thought.
WES: The AR heating and air a lot actually;  that is too funny that you say that!!!  I think that could be a great field!! I know I need to study but I learn better when its hands on so a quick training and then to work is the best route I feel for me!! I know how to work hard so I think that would be a great option!!!

Middle of March

Dear Family,
Elder Smartt is an awesome companion, and I know that he was sent to be my companion by revelation, I will not tell a lie, just because of how much he has helped me in this litle time and there is still so much time left. He has helped me really get things into perspective and really is helping me with this whole winding down with the mission thing! So it has been great.
The members here at good ~ we have 6 members in our area and the rest live in the other area, so it's so hard to visit them, and Sundays now are a crazy work day for me; more than normal, because of helping in all the different classes, with the sacramente and then as well trying to get investigators all figured out and make sure they feel good and comfortable, it makes for a stressful morning for me! I enjoy it though, the country life is great, it's so different then the last area, just the way of life and how you to teach people, the way to work even, it's  going to take a little bit to get the swing of things, but its coming along!! I really do like it and I am trying to live this last little bit up and take the work, the members and the country all in and have fun!!!
I really do love this work and my call and this country, but I will not lie it's coming to an end and I will be home real quick and I can`t wait to see you all and have give you all a huge hug and talk and exchange stories and what not!!
Well folks that is about it for this week!
I love you mother to the moon and back and then some, I love you all, and hope you have a great week!!!!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow

MOM: When would you like to have your homecoming talk in church?  May 31st, June 14th or June 21st?
Wes: So the date thing I don`t care when I talk to be honest, maybe sooner the better so I can still have that missionary spirit with me(; but truly just tell the bishop to deicide and I will do it!
MOM:  Do you want everyone at the airport or just a small group and everyone waiting here at the house for a late night?
WES: The airport would be sweet whoever wants to go but it doesn`t mattet to me at all!! Just you plan it and I will be there(;
MOM:  Still no package?
Wes:  So I got a call about my debit card from mission presidentes wife, what is going on with all that?? Do you know?? Have you heard anything?? I haven`t recieved anything yet!
MOM:  Yeah I was chatting with her on FB over the weekend; she is helping me try to track your package which contains your debit card.  I am freaking out.  I feel awful that you are there and BROKE!
WES: It's okay sometimes things happen, there is no use in crying over spilt milk, it won`t change anything
MOM:  I am still looking into our other options.
WES:  Thanks mother!

Change week

Dear Family,

So what a crazy change this one has been for me I will not lie!! So I did get changes and it  was a hard one after being in an area for so long you just become accustomed to it and its home to you, I knew so many people there and they were all so awesome!! I am now back out to the country which is an answer to prayers, I wanted to finish my mission in the country, and I am pretty sure I will finish my mission here, and man do I got a lot of work ahead of me!!  I am serving in a small town, Aguilares.   My companion has only one change in this area, so he doesn`t know it all yet either, it is huge!!!! We have a little tiny branch here, of about 35 adults and 15 kids, so its so small and the weekend before I came they got a new branch Presidente so we will be helping a lot there. For example my first Sunday, I had to give a talk on the spot as well as teach the following two hours!! So will be working hard this next little bit. It shall be fun though!
My new companion is awesome, his name is Elder Smartt, from Mesa, Arizona. He has one change less then I, so he knows what he is doing and there are two other Elders here with us, and that is our District. We are away from everything!! We are an hour in any direction from big city and stuff, so its great!! It is back to dirt roads and country living, the people here are good, its just back to very little education among the people so that always makes it a challenge, but we are up for it!! We have talked about it, and we have some plans so we will see what we can do, to help this branch grow and get some new members here!!!
That is a quick update on the El Salvi missionary, I love you mother to the moon and back adnd then some, I love you all, and hope you have a great week!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Leatherow

Dear Family ~ I love you!

Dear Family,

So I have been thinking a lot lately and reading and doing a lot of pondering and it seriously scares me to death knowing that some of you have not had the chance to hear about the NEW WORD!!! We have this great thing that has blessed and helped us so much and its something I know you guys, need it too, sometimes you might know it but you will in the long run! I have had the privilege of meeting and teaching and helping people find what they have been looking for, or finish their search that maybe they never really knew that they had started! Help give people a direction in life, sometimes we seem to just roll through the motions of this game we call life, not knowing where we are going, or how to get there?
I am here to testify to each one of you that the Lord has a plan for each one of you specifically! That one day we all will pass on to the next life, when?  we never know and that is why it is so important that we do all that we can to prepare for that moment!!
This gospel has everything that we need to recieve the eternal life! We just need to look for it and ask our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ if these things that you will hear or read are true! I know it will be something very new for every one of you, and for those of you that at one point knew these things but somewhere life got to hard with family, work, or school, or whatever it might be, remember ~  there is ALWAYS time for the Lord, we just need to be humble enough to accept what it is that He wants from us!
In the long run it will give us blessings, which is what He wants for us to give us blessings, just like you as parents want the best for your kids He wants the best for His kids, which is all of us!!
I would really like you guys to take a moment and think about these things, maybe pick up and read in the Book of Mormon, ask questions to those of us who have had the blessing to know and have the gospel in our life right now! What have you got to lose if you give 10 minutes of your day for these things?? The only you can recieve is the truth!! There is only two options to this, it's that this gospel is true or its not true!
I promise you from the bottom of my heart that they are true, I would not just give up two years of my life for something that I knew not to be true and change lifes and families forever! I know you love your wives, your husbands and kids if you love them so much, why wouldn`t you want to be them for an eternity?? If it's a true love I don`t know anyone that doesn't love their family so much that they wouldn`t want that. So please take a minute and ask yourself these questions….
What happens if I die tomorrow or my kids or my wife??
How can I create a happy family???
Why am I here on earth??
I know this gospel to be true and I want you guys to know it too; so you can begin to receive the blessings that I have!!!
I love you all so much, if there are questions , ask!!!
I love you guys,
con mucho amor.
